Artist statement - Roxanne DC

When I create, I think about an alternate form of expression, of communication. If not only through the eyes and the mouth, we were to connect and share in a different form. Something far beyond aesthetics. But really, “a way of life, a language of its own.”

If the human mind creates various interpretations independently of our man-made communication standards. Then I believe it can also observe and interpret one’s expression of art in it’s own way. Allowing oneself to receive guidance and clarity. Welcoming emotions to transcend the mind beyond the perceptible and the possibilities of the intelligible.

If you let it, my art will allow you to reconnect with your emotions and transport you.

In my paintings, you’ll find the eyes and mouths to be still. Observant and quiet. I like to oppose the realistic human facial form in some of its elements, mixed with the non-tangible. Contrasting our very linear perceptibility to the very non-formal imaginary.

Every painting is meticulously guided by intuition and emotions. For that, ten to twelve hours of undivided attention is put in per session. For it is crucial that the connection to the present moment & its emotional essence is kept. I only produce one canvas per year or two. So their essence is at its highest vibration.

...The human imagination is exponential and can only be expressed so much in our day-to-day life. Allow yourself to reconnect with your heart and simply feel. Allow your mind to travel where it wants to go. Regardless of opinions. Just feel.

So tell me, how does it make you feel?
